Business owners in Waterford could face a five per cent increase in commercial rates next year.

That's the proposal which will be put forward by Council CEO Michael Walsh to close the €1.3 million shortfall when councillors meet to pass a budget on Friday.

The local authority has been granted €2 million in Government funding to help offset the €3.3 million it's losing due to the revaluation of Irish Water rates.

Meanwhile, Dublin business owners will have to pay 2.7 per cent more in 2020 after the city council's budget was approved last night.

It also includes a 10 per cent rise in parking charges and an extra 50 cent on the East Link toll.
