The Waterford Business Awards are fast approaching with the closing date for application this Wednesday, September 11th.
The Tower Hotel will host the awards night on the 8th November where the winners of the various categories will be announced.
Dungarvan and West Waterford Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Officer, Jenny Beresford spoke to WLR News.
She outlined the positives of being shortlisted for an award.
"It's a celebration of all that's wonderful, good, innovative and excellent about the businesses in Waterford."
"We know that there are fantastic businesses, award-winning businesses, leading businesses that are based in Waterford City and County, and we want those businesses to put themselves forward for the awards and get the acknowledgement and the promotion that they so justly deserve."
The Dungarvan and West Waterford Chamber of Commerce CEO believes there's a category for everyone.
"There's 13 categories in this year's awards, and then there's two special awards that will be issued on the night. And in the 13 categories, there is bound to be at least one if not three that will suit every single business in Waterford City and County."
"It's a wonderful validation of the effort and contribution of the staff and management to the success of a business. Being shortlisted as well would send a really strong message to staff and customers and to the wider public about the strength of your business. It's also a sign of the quality of your business. It differentiates your business from your competitors or from others in the market."
"It's a wonderful learning process for a business and it clearly shows the outstanding contributions that every aspect of your business makes and also the inching that you do every year to become a bit better. So it's a really fantastic process to get involved in and we encourage everybody to put an application in."
"The promotion that people get from being shortlisted is unbelievable and it's hard to even quantify. WLR and local media and also digital media is so important and the word really gets out there strongly in advance of the awards and also the awards night themselves is a great networking opportunity and it's a showcase of your business to hundreds, if not thousands of other people."
"People have been able to generate greater awareness about their business, build a strength in their profile and also build a new market, new contacts and a new network as well. So, you know, we're all selling in some way or other it might not be directly to other businesses locally, but certainly indirectly. We're all selling and every bit helps to broaden our network and to raise our profile."
