Ireland's Ambassador to America had to announce at a gala event in Washington DC last night that the Taoiseach had tested positive for Covid.
Mícheál Martin and Joe Biden had been due to meet in-person in the Oval Office today for the traditional St Patrick's Day engagement.
However, they will now meet virtually instead.
Waterford man, Dan Mulhall, was involved in a slightly awkward exchange with 82-year-old House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, who Mícheál Martin had been sitting beside earlier in the day.
She was about to present an award to the Taoiseach when she was told he was no longer there:
