WATCH: Storm Isha brings strong wind and waves to Waterford

Storm Isha is battering Waterford City and County this evening as it moves across Ireland.

Waterford is under a Status Orange wind warning until 2am Monday.

Met Éireann says the conditions  could lead to wave overtopping, dangerous travelling conditions, fallen trees, disruption to services and damage to power lines.

Fallen trees have already been reported in several locations across County Waterford today.

There are very strong winds and waves reported along The Promenade in Tramore this evening.

Waterford City and County Council has advised the public to stay away from all coastal areas for the duration of the Met Éireann warnings.

Additionally, all road users are advised to be aware of the hazardous travelling conditions, exercise caution when travelling, allow extra time for journeys and be mindful of vulnerable road users.

There are numerous reports of power outages across County Waterford.

ESB Networks says teams will be making safe any faults which occur  and restoring supply remotely and on site when safe to do so.

ESB customers can check estimated restoration times or report an outage on Powercheck.ie. 

Gas Networks Ireland has reassured its customers that it does not anticipate any disruption to gas supplies during Storm Isha.

The Department of Transport is engaging with agencies and operators in preparation for any disruption to transport services and has initiated its severe weather protocol.

The public are encouraged to use the relevant public transport provider websites to check for any disruption to services at local level.

The National Emergency Coordination Group Crisis Management Team continues to monitor Storm Isha developments, liaising with Local Authority Severe Weather Assessment Teams and Crisis Management Teams who are actively monitoring the evolution of the storm.
