Two walkers have been rescued from the Comeragh Mountains in County Waterford.
South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association received a call just after 4.00 pm to assist two walkers who had gotten into difficulty.
The pair were above Coumshingaun and managed to go slightly off track on their descent and ended up getting stuck in a gully.
The mountain rescue team was dispatched to Kilclooney Woods and the Waterford based Coast Guard helicopter Rescue 117 was also tasked.
At around 6.00 pm the first search party reached the first walker, he was 10 metres down a gully and was crag-fast, he was unable to move up or down.
Other team members reached the other walker at the top of the mountain and walked him down to Mahon Falls Valley, he was transferred to a SEMRA vehicle and brought back around to Kilclooney Woods.
The remaining team members on the top of the mountain set up a rope system and lowered a rescuer down to the crag-fast walker. The walker was then lowered down to the bottom of the gully from where he was escorted out.
Rescue 117 provided assistance, they were on-site to light up the gully so that the team on top could set up the rope system.
Both walkers were down off the hill by 10.00 pm and all team members were off the hill by 10.30 pm.
Liz Browne, PRO for SEMRA said that "The walkers were well but very cold and very wet."
"We would remind anybody going out walking to ensure that they have warm clothing and extra clothing with them because it is very, very cold."
