Vigils in memory of Aidan Moffitt and Michael Snee are being held in Waterford and elsewhere this evening.
Both men were murdered in separate incidents in Sligo earlier this week.
It comes as 22-year-old Yousef Palani appeared in court yesterday, charged with their murders.
A vigil in Dungarvan's Walton Park gets underway at 6 o'clock, while at the same time one will take place in John Robert's Square in the city.
Organiser of that one, Martina Collender says they want to send a message of solidarity that Ireland remains a safe country for the LGBT community:
"The whole country is united in grief and shock at the minute.
"We want everyone to come out at 6pm at John Robert's Square to show solidarity with the people of Sligo, their family members and friends.
"And also, to show support to the LGBTQ+ community.
"The majority of Ireland is a safe and welcoming place for people of all genders to live and love as they choose."
Continuing, Martina outlines what will be on the agenda for this evening's event in the city:
"We have speakers lined up. We have Cam Little who is the chair of Pride of the Déise. We have Debbie O'Rourke from ChillOut and we have a young person, Tia Weldon, who's going to be reading some of her poetry.
"We also have local poet, Wayne Power, reading a piece and then we're going to finish the vigil with Tara Kennedy, giving us a version of 'Imagine' by John Lennon."
