A man who was the victim of a serious assault in Tallow last week has died.
The man, who's in his mid-twenties, was found on Barrack Street in the town, shortly after midnight on Wednesday morning last.
The victim was taken to Cork University Hospital in a critical condition, where it's understood he was placed in an induced coma.
However, Gardaí have now confirmed to WLR News this evening that he has passed away.
A man in his 30s was arrested and charged in connection with the assault last week and appeared before a special sitting of Carrick-on-Suir district court on Thursday.
Gardaí have yet to say whether or not fresh charges will be brought in light of this development.
A spokesperson has said that as the matter is before the courts, they cannot provide further comment.
