St Angela's, Ursuline, Secondary School in Waterford city will be closed on Monday and Tuesday this week.
In a late text to parents on Sunday evening, the school said the Board of Management had made the decision "due to a shortage of staff".
The school did not elaborate on the reason for the staff shortage.
In the message, the Principal Mrs McGlynn said the school would be open for students to collect personal belongings from classrooms and lockers, and advised that students collecting belongings must sign in and out at reception.

The school offered its apologies for any inconvenience.
