The scale of the flooding in areas of West Waterford following Storm Babet has been described as "unprecedented".
Dungarvan and Clashmore were particularly impacted but areas throughout the wider West Waterford area were also hit by severe flooding.
Speaking to media this morning, Director of Services at Waterford City and County Council, Fergus Galvin, said there were significant amounts of rainfall in the west of the county yesterday.
He described the scale of the flooding in the area as "unprecedented" in the last 30 or 40 years and urged anyone travelling this morning to be cautious as it is still raining.
"We've signed-posted all of those areas where we have surface water flooding, where roads might be blocked, and would appeal to people not to drive down those roads," he said.
Parts of East Cork were severely impacted, including Midleton and the nearby areas of Whitegate, Cloyne, Castlemartyr and Killeagh.
Cork County Council said that more than 100 properties were inundated with water after a month's rain fell in less than 24 hours.
