UHW says you should only go to the Emergency Department if referred by a GP

Strict visting restrictions have been put in place at University Hospital Waterford.

It's to try to prevent the spread of flu.

The Emergency Department at UHW is extremely busy this afternoon and they're reminding the public that they should only present at the ED when referred by their local GP.

They say it's in the overall interest of patient safety.

A spokesperson for the hospital added that it's not too late to get the flu vaccine.
