Crews were on the water within 5 minutes of receiving the call.
However, the swimmer was spotted by other swimmers, who called emergency services and also went to their assistance.
They were just making their way back to shore when the lifeboat arrived on the scene.
A spokesperson for Tramore RNLI said this person was swimming with friends and reminded people not to go swimming alone adding that the water temperatures are now dropping.
