Three emergency units attended a call-out in Tramore this afternoon, after they received a report of a kitesurfer in difficulty.
Tramore RNLI was alerted by a woman on the Cliff Road at 4:50pm today (Sunday May 9th).
It was understood that a kitesurfer was in the water about a mile and a half away from the beach.
Tramore RNLI, the Irish Coastguard, and the Coastguard Rescue 117 helicopter were called.
Conditions were poor with four-metre sea swells and strong winds recorded.
The woman who alerted emergency services stayed at the scene and updated units of the situation.
The kite-surfer eventually made their way back to the shore in bad sea conditions by themselves.
Tramore RNLI said they want to thank the woman for alerting them and are reminding people to call 999 or 112 if they see anyone in difficulty.
Units returned to base at 5:10 pm this afternoon.
