Repak has announced that Tramore Eco Group has been shortlisted for the 2024 Pakman Awards.
The Awards are Ireland’s leading national environmental awards which recognise and celebrate excellence in recycling and waste management across businesses, organisations, and community groups.
Tramore Eco Group has been nominated for the Environmental Education and Community Initiative award for its dedication to protecting and sustaining local biodiversity in Tramore and educating local residents on the importance of conservation.
Since its establishment, the group has been working towards fulfilling its community biodiversity action plan, which aims to protect the longevity of local ecosystems amidst climate crisis concerns.
Tramore Eco Group has initiated a variety of community-led projects and infrastructures to protect local biodiversity and ecosystems.
This includes regular beach cleans and litter picking, free weekly pollinator plant meetups, water refill schemes, and public fountains, the removal of invasive sargassum seaweed, and recycling washed-up beach toys – just to name a few.
Winners will be announced at a ceremony at The Shelbourne Hotel on Thursday, 24th October 2024.
