Tramore continues to have the highest level of Covid-19 infections in Waterford.

The latest breakdown of cases by local electoral area shows increases of between 200 and 500 percent in all parts of Waterford.

The 14-day incidence rate in Tramore Waterford City West is more than double the national average.

695 cases were confirmed there between the 29th of December and the 11 of January. That gives a rate of 3,106 cases per 100,000 people. It’s three times higher than a week ago and is among the highest in the country.

Waterford City East, which includes Dunmore East, is also above the national average, there were 493 cases during that time to give a rate of 2,144.

There were 313 cases in Waterford City South its rate at 1,392 is just below the national figure.

In Portlaw/Kilmacthomas the number of confirmed cases increased from 25 to 114.

Lismore saw the largest percentage increase from 11 cases to 66.

The cases in Dungarvan jumped from 29 to 101 however they have the lowest incidence rate locally of 492 cases per 100,000 people.

Nationally, 20 areas of the country had rates of over 2,000 per 100,000 people.

Belmullet LEA in Co Mayo had a rate of 6,032 - over four times the national average.
