Appeal lodged against Tramore retail and residential space

Appeal lodged against Tramore retail and residential space

An appeal has been lodged against the proposed development of a retail and residential space on Main Street in Tramore.

The development was granted permission by Waterford City and County Council in July, and that permission has now been appealed.

Applicant Michael Clarke received permission to redevelop the former Three Swans pub on Main Street from a pub to a retail unit.

The proposed development allowed for a new shop front on the ground floor and for the first floor rear extension to be demolished.

The residential unit is to be extended over the existing pub to incorporate four two-bed apartments and one studio apartment.

This would see the site at 13 Main Street redeveloped entirely from its previous use as a pub. Permission was granted on July 8th, subject to 13 conditions.

However, the decision to grant permission has now been appealed on the grounds of privacy concerns from neighbouring residential properties and concerns were also raised on the grounds of traffic congestion concerns.

The deadline for submissions on the appeal is tomorrow.
