Three deaths on Irish roads so far this year

On the country's roads, the New Year has gotten off to a bad start.

Following a car crash in Enfield, County Kildare, a woman in her 40s has died and two children have been hurt.

A 40-year-old motorcyclist in Cavan, meanwhile, lost his life in an afternoon collision with a car.

A woman lost her life last night at approximately 6:15 p.m. when the automobile she was driving collided with a van in Cloncurry, between Enfield and Kilcock.

The two small children who accompanied her were admitted to 'Children's Health Ireland' at Crumlin, Dublin, where their status is described as'serious but stable'.

The van's male driver was sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening wounds.

A motorcyclist in his 40s lost his life earlier on the main Cavan to Ballinagh Road after colliding with an automobile.

The first road tragedy of the New Year occurred on Monday night when a man in his 20s was killed in a collision on the M7 near Kildare.

That raises the total number of road deaths to three for the year 2024.
