The latest Covid-19 data from local electoral areas (LEA) has been released and the levels of the virus is continuing to fall in Waterford.

The latest breakdown by local electoral area shows a drop of between 25 per cent and 35 per cent in most areas.

Waterford City South had the highest incidence rate locally for the second week in a row despite having the biggest fall in cases, the rate was 805 per 100 thousand people after 181 cases were confirmed during the two weeks ending on Monday, February 1st.

The number of cases in City East fell by a third to 170 to give a rate of 739 while in Tramore the numbers were down more than a quarter to 150. The incidence there was 670.

All areas of Waterford City had rates above the national average which was 455 at the time.

In the county, the number of cases in the Dungarvan area fell slightly from 87 to 82 to give a rate of 400.

The numbers in Portlaw/Kilmacthomas dropped by a quarter to 61 and Lismore continued to have the lowest level, they had 19 cases to give a rate of 177.

Monaghan

One in every 91 people in a local electoral area in Co Monaghan tested positive for Covid-19 in the space of two weeks.

Carrickmacross-Castleblayney LEA had the highest 14-day incidence rate in the country, in the two-week period that ended on Monday.

Its rate was 1,096 per 100,000 people — over twice the national average of 455.

The second highest in the country was Enniscorthy LEA in Co Wexford, at 1,086.

Blanchardstown-Mulhuddart in Dublin has the third highest 14-day incidence rate (1005) followed by Castlebar in Co Mayo at 930.
