Relatives of three teenagers injured in an acid attack last year have been told that the alleged perpetrators will not be prosecuted.
The two boys under investigation will only be cautioned following the acid attack on Tega Agberhiere, 17, and two other boys, last year.
Tega Agberhiere, aged 17, a youth player for Waterford FC, suffered severe injuries to his face and body and his eyesight was damaged when an unspecified acidic substance was thrown on him. Oisín Daly, aged 19 and Pádraig Sullivan were also injured.
All three victims suffered severe skin burns in the incident last April in what their families say was a premeditated attack.
Chrisie Agberhie the mother of Tega who suffered very significant injuries to his face, back and legs, said her son was coping in the best way he could.
Tega was left with injuries to his face, legs and back following the acid attack which took place in April, 2018.
Last month, two teens were not be charged in relation to the case, but Tega’s parents and the parents of another boy, Padraig Sullivan, hoped that the decision would be overturned.
Families met with representatives of the DPP in recent days and were told that the individuals involved will be dealt with by way of juvenile caution.
They had been informed in December that one teen was cautioned and judgement was being reserved on whether to caution the second teen.
Shirley Sullivan told Damien Tiernan on Deise Today that she wants justice for her son who was injured in the incident.
