Swimming in Dunmore prohibited due to oil in water

UDPATE:

The beaches in Dunmore East have reopened following investigation of suspected oil in the water yesterday.

Waterford council say they went to site to investigate but there was no evidence of oil on the shore, or evidence of odours.

As high tide was at 17:20, the Red Flags were left in place as a precautionary until circa 18:00.

Bathing restrictions are in place in Dunmore East.

Red flags have been raised at both the Strand and Counsellors beaches. Waterford Council say it's due to possible oil in the water.

Investigations are being carried out into the issue
