'Stuck in the mud'- Tramore residents voice transport concerns

Posts have circulated on social media showing a trail of mud left behind by what Tramore locals are saying, has been caused by a large transport vehicle adjacent to a bus stop.

Multiple stops around the town have been placed in what residents say are "inconvenient" locations.

One such stop pictured below, is adjacent to a main road, where users of a local transport service have to walk through "mud grass" to gain access to the vehicle.

Speaking to WLR News, local councillor Lola O'Sullivan says it's not good enough.

"There's a bus stop near the Cove Stores in Tramore, where residents have to walk out onto a busy road to gain access to the transport service. On Priest's Road, there's a bus stop 200 meters away from a layby where it should, in my opinion, be located as it is disrupting oncoming traffic.

"Imagine you're a 20-something-year-old, or any age for that matter, going for a night out on the town, and you have to walk through the muck to gain access to a transport service, it's not good enough.

"In general, we have a fantastic bus service in Tramore. You can get a bus every 20 minutes and it is a welcomed addition to the town."

Residents at the Crobally Heights Estate in Tramore have also voiced their concerns, where a petition of over 40 residents has been signed, relating to safety concerns at a bus stop adjacent to the estate, where they say their view is blocked when exiting due to several busses restricting their view.

Councillor O'Sullivan continued, "It's not just one bus stopping outside the Crobally estate, it's three, and it is causing major concerns among residents who have been onto me the past number of weeks relating to this. We have a perfectly operational bus terminus at the bottom of the town that is suitable for all, where up to seven busses can stop if needed with access to public parking."
