A status yellow warning for wind and rain is now in place in Waterford.
Met Éireann says a wet and windy evening can be expected across Waterford, Cork and Kerry.
There will be spells of heavy rain and the possibility of spot flooding, while there will also be strong south-to-southwest winds and gusts of 70 to 100 kilometres per hour.
The warning came into effect at 4 o'clock this afternoon and will remain valid until 11.30pm tonight.
Meanwhile, a yellow warning is also in effect for gales across the coastal areas of Ireland.
Winds are expected to reach gale force 9 at times between now and 3am tonight (or Tuesday morning).
