An arrest was made this morning as Kilmacthomas Gardai stopped a driver travelling over the speed limit along a section of the N25.
The driver of an Audi A6 was caught travelling at 177km per hour despite the speed limit of 100km/ph.
The driver of the car was subsequently arrested with proceedings set to follow.

Five drivers were also caught speeding along the N25 at a checkpoint last weekend.
Gardaí from the Roads Policing Unit were conducting a speed detection checkpoint on the N25, five cars were caught speeding at 130 kilometres and above - with one clocked at 161 kilometres per hour.
Gardaí say fixed charge notices have been issued to all drivers.
