A special meeting of councillors will take place today to pay tribute to the late Councillor Davy Daniels.

The independent local representative passed away on Tuesday following a short illness.

He was one of the longest serving councillors in the country, having first been elected in 1974.

The monthly council meeting was supposed to take place today but has instead been postponed to allow for a special vote of sympathy to be passed for Councillor Daniels.
