Local Fianna Fáil TD Bobby Alyward says the local community is in shock, and has expressed his sympathy with Mr Walsh's family:

"They have a big ordeal on their hands at the moment now, for a young man to be taken like that. Very sad news for the whole area here in South Kilkenny and its a shock to everyone.

All we can say is our sympathies are with the family and our prayers and hopefully they can get through this."
