Sinnotts Nightclub will be transformed into student accommodation following approval from An Bord Pleanala.

The Causeway Group had first sought permission to turn Sinnott's Bar and Nightclub in Waterford into student accommodation in July 2023.

The historic building, which was previously named Muldoon's Late Bar, Peig's Bar, and Oxygen Niteclub was sold in 2005 for in excess of €10 million.

The application proposes 7 residential student units on the ground floor, 19 units on the 1st floor, and 12 units on the top floor.

The approved plans include provision for the partial demolition of existing vacant derelict structures at 29 and 30 John Street and the construction of new three-storey buildings to amalgamate with the existing Sinnott’s property and numbers 27, 28, 31, rear of 31A and 32 John Street.

In addition to residential units, the application proposes communal facilities including dining rooms, a games room, a gym, and social areas.

Accompanying the planning application is a request to change the property use from licensed premises to student accommodation.
