Residents in the picturesque village of Stradbally have been left shocked by the theft of a beloved statue.
The eye-catching creation located near the heart of the village was commissioned by Jim Thompson, owner of Woodhouse Estate, to pay tribute to the teachers and musicians of the village and surrounding area.
It had become a focal point in the area, with many visitors stopping to admire its beauty.
"We cannot express how disappointed we are that someone would steal this beautiful piece of art," a spokesperson for Woodhouse Estate said.
Stradbally has a proud record in the Tidy Towns competition and judges had praised the installation in their evaluation reports.
The theft of the statue has been reported to Gardai who are investigating.
Anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the area on the night of Wednesday, January 10th is asked to make contact.
