South East Technological University (SETU) was awarded the Excellence in Diversity, Inclusivity and Equality Award at the Education Awards 2023, held in Dublin’s Crowne Plaza Hotel.
SETU was recognised for its work in cultivating an inclusive environment where diversity is championed and all members of its community, both staff and students, are treated fairly and respectfully.
Launched in 2017, the Education Awards recognise, encourage, and celebrate Irish third-level educational institutions who demonstrate excellence in the space of diversity, inclusivity and equality. The award categories are designed to highlight the key areas that impact upon student performance and present opportunities for providers of higher and further education and training, their employees and contributors, to have their achievements recognised across the various important facets of their operations.
Dr Allison Kenneally, Vice President for Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion at SETU, commented: “I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of the staff and students at SETU and it is wonderful to see that SETU is now recognised as a leader in the sector when it comes to equality, diversity, and inclusion. The SETU community is united in our aim to make our university a place where everyone is truly welcome, feels a real sense of belonging and where each one of us can thrive and be valued for our unique perspectives and contributions, and this award recognises our commitment to that objective.”
Dr. Kenneally was joined by Samantha O’Connor, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Support Officer at SETU, in accepting this award. It was presented to them by Bertie Kelly, Commercial Director of the National College of Ireland, and member of the Education Awards adjudication panel.
