A County Waterford scenic route appears to be the subject of coastal erosion.

Known locally as the 'Coast Road', the Copper Coast scenic route takes in rural settings and villages such as Annestown, Boatstrand and Bunmahon.

In a statement to WLR, Waterford City and County Council say they are plans to realign some of the route to avoid further damage.

"Following a storm event in April this year, a combination of heavy rainfall and wave overtopping caused some erosion to the cliff face.

"A traffic management system has been put in place to divert traffic away from the cliff face and investigations are ongoing.

"It is the intention of Waterford City and County Council to realign the road away from the cliff face in the medium to long term."
