A leading alcohol awareness group has criticised RTE for setting last nights tribute show to Shane McGowan in a studio pub.
Alcohol Action Ireland said it was regrettable the broadcaster would seek to normalise the impact of alcohol on people and reinforce cultural stereotypes.
An RTE spokesperson claimed the bar-room setting was a feature of Shane's career and the alcohol on set was in context with the performances and conversations involved.
