It's understood that Britain's Prince Charles may be coming to Waterford next month.

It's been confirmed by the British Embassy in Ireland, that the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall will be visiting Ireland from the 23rd to the 25th of March.

Preparations are said to be underway behind the scenes to welcome the couple to the Déise during that time.

The visit is part of a series of royal tours marking the Queen's platinum jubilee year.

The British Embassy have not yet confirmed where the royal couple will travel to but WLR understands that Waterford City is expected to be one of the places they will visit.
Extensive preparations have been underway in the Viking Triangle and security personnel from Britain have visited the area and the embassy are said to be working closely with Waterford Gardai and detectives.
If the royal visit does take place - it's understood Prince Charles will visit at least one of the museums in the Viking Triangle. The preparations behind the scenes are continuing.
Damien Tiernan says he understands a final decision on the itinerary won't be revealed or confirmed for another 10 days at least.
