Wedding preparations are underway for couples as restrictions eased this week - but one Waterford stylist says next year will be the big year.

For the brides, one of the big bookings is of course the hair and makeup, and Lyndsey Kelly owner of Queen salon says they're already getting bookings for 2021.

Since Monday up to 50 guests can attend the ceremony, while 15 are allowed at an outdoor celebration afterwards.

Lyndsey Kelly from Queen on Bailey's New Street says that it's been difficult for couples over the past year.

"There were a couple of girls that I really felt for they had to cancel their date three times.

"I think a lot of people are cancelling if they want a bigger wedding but of course that doesn't suit everyone as they might want the smaller wedding.

"But I do think next year is going to be the crazy year for weddings," Lyndsey said.

Just next door to Queen on Bailey's New Street is a jewellers shop that sells bespoke wedding and engagement rings.

Lisa Statham welcomed brides and grooms back into her store Harlow for appointment-only bookings this week.

From tomorrow, she'll be able to welcome back her walk-in customers as all retail is set to re-open to the public.

Lisa says despite how difficult it has been for engaged couples during the pandemic, they seem to be taking it in their stride.

"They've been so chilled - I couldn't believe it I thought there would be some nervous wrecks but I think they've been so much now and to have a date and get it done is a big relief.

"We've had tight deadlines as we'd normally allow three months to go through the process of choosing, designing and making the wedding rings.

"We, unfortunately, don't have that luxury at the moment but that's okay as we can work within a four-week timeframe for a bespoke ring," Lisa said.
