Volunteer rescuers in Waterford have thanked a quick-thinking member of the public who alerted them to an incident on the River Suir last night.
A casualty was recovered from a small speedboat which was adrift near Mooncoin.
Waterford City River Rescue was launched shortly before 7 pm and was assisted on scene by Rescue 117.
The casualty was taken ashore at Mooncoin and was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Waterford.

"We'd like to say thank you to the person that did call 999 or 112 and asked for the Irish Coast Guard.
"It enabled all the units in the area to get to the site of the incident extremely quickly, recover that casualty and get them treatment."
