Rescue efforts successful for Waterford walker with head and shoulder injuries

Emergency services responded to a call-out yesterday afternoon of a walker who had fallen, resulting in shoulder and head injuries.

At approximately 2pm, South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association and the National Ambulance Service were tasked to the call.

The walker had fallen in a heavily forested area in County Waterford, which was difficult to navigate to.

Additionally, there was a stream over which the services had to cross over to reach the walker.

Members of SEMRA and the NAS parked as close to the site as possible, before carrying the casualty in a stretcher over difficult terrain.

They were taken to the ambulance, which transported the casualty to University Hospital Waterford for treatment of injuries.

Units stood down following a successful rescue at 4.14pm.
