A prominent Waterford city pub has sold for almost half a million euro and will continue to operate as a pub. The Cleaboy Bar and Restaurant had a guideline price of €499,000 and a price close to this was achieved, according to Sherry Fitzgerald John Rohan who handled the sale. Speaking to WLR News, John gave the details of the sale.
"The Cleaboy Pub has been sold and the new owners have taken it over. They are delighted and it will reopen as a pub/restaurant shortly which is good news for everybody in the area.
"It's a great vote of confidence because they felt there are so many chimney pots in the area which means that there are houses and opportunities for future development. The new owners are excited and have great plans for the Cleaboy Pub.
"The location is desirable. It is near Hillview, Norwood, and Lismore Park. There is excellent parking surrounding it, and there are other good shops around the area as well.
"The publican business is tough, but it is a vote of confidence for the sector. This is a pub that is going to be reopened, as opposed to being turned into apartments or anything like that, they want this business to work.
"Anthony Heffernan who was the previous owner has asked me to wish the new owners all the best in the future."
