Members of the public are being reminded that tampering with an election poster is a criminal offence.

Many candidates' posters have been torn down or vandalised in recent weeks ahead of the upcoming local and European elections.

Polling day is next Friday, June 7th - and Sergeant Conor Cleary from Dungarvan Garda Station says any incidents should be reported.

"A number of posters right across the county have been vandalised from all sorts of parties - and we're asking people to stay away from these posters and not to damage them. They're up for the next two weeks or so, and should any member of the public observe anyone interfering with a poster or see one that has been vandalised, we would ask them to contact their local Garda Station."
