An application for planning permission for a 141 hectare Solar Farm has been lodged with Waterford Council.
The proposed location for the farm covers the townlands of Bishopstown, Bridgetown, Ballyhest, and Ballyneal in Co. Waterford.
Following on from a successful 2019 planning application for Phase 1, planning permission for phase 2 of the project was lodged earlier this week.
The plans for the 141 hectare site include 28 inverter stations, PV panels on ground mounted steel frames, and 49 CCTV cameras.
Permission for the intended development has been given by all five landowners in the region, across whose land the development is proposed.
The application is being brought forward by BNRG Renewables, an Irish developer and operator of solar projects, who received permission for Phase 1 in 2019.
Extensive public meetings had taken place last year with strong opposition to the plans being voiced by some members of the communities concerned.
A timeframe of 10-12 months is the expected construction timeline for the development, which is situated some 5km from Carrick-on-Suir.
A decision on the development is expected on or before May 1.
