A former manager of Waterford Airport was one of the men who lost his life in a plane crash in Co Wexford yesterday evening.

61-year-old Peter Tawse from New Ross, Co Wexford and John Finnan, who was aged 58 and from Co Kildare, died when their light aircraft came down near Duncormick shortly before 6pm.

They had taken off from Taghmon Airfield approximately 15 minutes before the crash.

Speaking to Damien Tiernan on Deise Today, Waterford businessman Pádraig Ó Gríofa says he knew Peter Tawse well:

"A smiley gentleman that managed Waterford Airport for many years . He was a lovely man, a gentleman. He had Jet A-1 in his veins, not blood. He loved aviation."

Air investigators are at the scene of the crash today. They're appealing for eyewitness to come forward.
