Gym owner counts costs after Tallow fire

The community in Tallow is counting the cost of Monday morning's fire.

The blaze occured at Brideview United's Leonard Fraser Park and ripped through the club's dressing rooms.

No injuries were reported and investigations are ongoing.

One of the tenants who has suffered is personal trainer Tim Lenehan. He had been set to reopen next month but has now lost equipment worth approximately 15 thousand euro. He said: "All of my equipment is gone, that would be everything I built up over the years between treadmills and weights - they're not the cheapest things to go buying straight off the bat.

"I'd been working for myself over the last seven years so you build stuff like that over time, and it's going to take a bit of effort to get back. I can't see myself being back for June 7th but hopefully before the end of the year."

Tim and the Brideview club members are now hoping to recover what's been lost.

"Obviously the soccer club have lost the majority of their premises as regards changing rooms, and hey were saying that we'll have to get together and put a plan in place to move forward. There would be a good community spirit in Tallow and I know they'll pull together in those situations.

Further details of the upcoming efforts to help the club members and the likes of Tim are to be announced in the coming weeks.
