Volunteer lifeboat crew members in Waterford are asking people to check their engines are in perfect working order if they're taking any vessel on the water.
It's after Tramore RNLI was launched yesterday afternoon to reports of a jet-ski in trouble.
The engine failed, however, the rider was able to return to shore.
Paul Tuohy is Lifeboat Press Officer:
"Saltwater and engines don't generally mix anyway. If you're taking a boat or a jet-ski out for a run you need to check your engine.
"The engine needs to be double-checked. You wouldn't take a car for a spin up the motorway if it was sitting in a garage for eight or nine months.
"I would suggest that everybody needs to make sure their engines are in perfect working order."
