Fine Gael Councillor Pat Nugent has been elected as Cathaoirleach of the Dungarvan and Lismore District of Waterford City and County Council.
Cllr. Nugent was voted Cathaoirleach at the District AGM this afternoon, defeating Sinn Fein's Donnchadh Mulcahy by 5 votes to 3.
Party colleague Cllr. Damien Geoghegan will serve as Leas-Cathaoirleach, having defeated Independent Councillor Joe O'Riordan by 5 votes to 3.
It is the second year in succession that Cllr. Nugent will serve as Chair of the Dungarvan and Lismore District.
His nomination was proposed by Cllr. Damien Geoghegan and seconded by Cllr. Thomas Phelan (Labour).
Cllr. Geoghegan's nomination as Leas-Cathaoirleach was proposed by party colleague Cllr. Niamh O'Donovan and seconded by Cllr. John Pratt (Labour).
