For those who failed their test, the RSA says on their website "If you failed your car test and reapplied, there's no need to contact us. We will automatically send you another invitation 10 weeks after your failed test.  This may take longer in some centres with high demand. "

There are also eligibility rules in place.

  1. Critical frontline workers
  2. Re-tests: customers who have failed their test and reapplied. There’s a 10-week gap between failing your test and being invited for a retest.
  3. Eligibility and application date.

The Pass rate for driving tests in Waterford in 2023 was 51.1% which compares to 53% nationally according to testroutes.ie. The website also notes the average waiting time nationally for the driving test is 15 weeks, with Waterford coming in at 9 weeks.
