Operation Tombola resulted in a number of arrests in Waterford over the Halloween period.

That's according to Crime Prevention Officer for the county, Sergeant Deirdre O'Neill.

The operation saw extra patrols and manpower locally over the Bank Holiday weekend to deal with an increase in anti-social behaviour.

Sergeant O'Neill has been speaking to WLR News on this week's Waterford Garda Watch.

"It was a busy weekend, as it always is, for Gardaí and emergency services," she said.

This year there were over 25 public order offences, five drivers arrested for driving under the influence, 30 checkpoints, and a number of assaults.

All of these incidents are under investigation by the Gardaí, and anyone with information should contact Waterford Garda Station on 051 305 300.
