NIAC recommends booster for over 80s and over 65s in nursing homes

Those over the age of 65 living in a nursing home and those over 80 living in the community will now be offered a booster jab of an mRNA vaccine.

The Health Minister made the announcement this evening after accepting the recommendation from NIAC .

Those eligible for the booster jab will be able to avail of one, irrespective of what vaccine they received first.

However, the booster can only be given after six months of completing the first round of vaccinations.
