Almost 200 sparkling new Waterford crystal triangles have been installed on the Times Square New Year's Eve ball.
The traditional dropping of the ball will take place this year but without the huge crowds which usually mark the celebration. Instead the event will be televised.
The ball, which is a 12-foot geodesic sphere, contains more than 2,600 crystal triangles of varying sizes, and some new crystals are swapped every year.
This year the new crystals feature a design entitled 'Gift of Happiness'.
The ball will be lit with more than 32,000 LED lights and dropped at 11.59pm (EST) on New Year's Eve to ring in 2021.
The sun is shining and we're smiling from ear to ear because @timessquareball is getting a new look ✳️
