A new jury has been sworn in for a Central Criminal Court trial taking place in Waterford.
The judge discharged the first jury empanelled when the court was informed that a relative of one of the jurors was ill and needed a Covid test.
A new panel was sworn in and the trial is underway today.
A spokesperson from the courts service confirmed that trials have started in several locations across the country this week, which have been safe to organise jurors in.
They say that very detailed safety precautions have been drafted and are being followed.
The Central Criminal Court and the Circuit Criminal Courts are hearing trials through the remainder of the courts normal vacation period, to help ease the delays caused by the Covid restrictions.
