The Dungarvan native has received the nod in the 'Best Actor in a Leading Role' category for The Dig.
He also had a lead role in two other movies nominated in the 'Best Film' category; Rosie and Black 47.
And TV thriller Dublin Murders, in which Dunford played the part of Sam, is up for Best Drama.
Famine drama Arracht leads the nominations in this years IFTA Film and drama awards with 11, including a nod for best film of 2020.
The winners will be announced at a virtual IFTAs ceremony in September.
Speaking to WLR news, Moe Dunford said it was great to be involved in so many top quality productions, and that it was worth filming The Dig for weeks on end in the mucky bogs of Antrim in November.
