Conor McGregor has been convicted and fined €1,000 for punching a man in the face in a pub in Dublin.

It happened on April 6th of this year after Desmond Keogh refused to take a drink of the UFC fighter's own brand of whiskey.

McGregor pleaded guilty at Dublin District Court today.

CCTV footage harvested from the Marble Arch pub in Drimnagh showed the 31-year-old entering the building with two of his minders at 2.30pm

He then poured glasses of his own Proper 12 whiskey and handed them out to those in the bar.

Desmond Keogh declined several offers to try it. At one point, McGregor slammed a glass down on the bar in front of him before moving away.

He then returned and punched Mr. Keogh with a closed fist to the left side of his face while he was looking away.

Judge Treasa Kelly was told today that McGregor has apologised to Mr. Keogh, who penned a letter to say he accepted his apology. He also paid him an undisclosed sum in compensation.

McGregor pleaded for leniency, with his solicitor explaining to Judge Kelly that a conviction would cause him severe difficulties in obtaining a visa to fight in the US.

The court was told he's preparing for a fight in January but Judge Kelly handed down a conviction and fined him €1,000.
