The man who died after being knocked down in Carrick-on-Suir last night has been named locally.
67-year-old John "Toddler" Maher from Treacy Park was well known for his involvement with St Molleran's GAA club, where he was a former chairperson.
The fatal collision happened on the N24 at Townspark on the Clonmel Road at around 7.30pm.
In a post on their social media today, St Molleran's say "a terrible pall of grief" descended on their club last night when the awful news of John's death was learned.
He has been described as a staunch Mollerans man and a person who "represented the club with distinction on and off the pitch."
A Garda forensic exam of the scene was carried out and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage to contact them in Clonmel on 052 6177640.
