In a post on their social media today, St Molleran's say "a terrible pall of grief" descended on their club last night when the awful news of John's death was learned.

He has been described as a staunch Mollerans man and a person who "represented the club with distinction on and off the pitch."

A Garda forensic exam of the scene was carried out and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage to contact them in Clonmel on 052 6177640.
