Waterford Council says it's received reports of a man claiming to be one of its dog wardens.
The local authority says the man in a van, with partial registration 09 KK, attempted to take dogs from members of the public.
The man was challenged and did not produce ID.
Waterford Council says its wardens do not seize dogs on the spot, will always produce ID when asked, and its vans all have council branding.

It's asking people to contact Gardaí if they come across the man.
