A man in his 20's is due to appear in court in Waterford City this morning following an assault on a Garda.
Gardaí were on patrol on the Quay at around 4.30 pm yesterday afternoon when it's alleged that they observed a male become aggressive.
During the course of the arrest, a Garda member was assaulted and received a serious but non-life threatening injury. It's understood the officer was bitten on the hand.
The man was arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and brought to Waterford Garda Station, he has since been charged and is due to appear before Waterford District Court later this morning.
